Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Are you a Christian organization?

A. No.

Q. Are you Jewish?

A. No.  ‘Jewishness’ is more than a religious preference, it is a heritage. To be Jewish one must either be born of a Jewish mother or go through the process of conversion (if born into a non-Jewish family). You can not be “grafted in” to the Jewish nation without undergoing a proper conversion with a legitimate Jewish Rabbi.   We are Gentiles, individuals who are born from the Sons of Noah- nations, who acknowledge the G-d of Abraham and His instructions, Torah, as the authority over the created world.  We believe the teachings and laws given at the time of creation were preserved throughout the generations and restated to Noah after the flood.  These laws, now called the Noahide Laws, were the foundation of the new world and have been preserved once again by generations of the ancestors of Abraham, the Jewish people.  We follow the leading of the Jewish sages and teachers, and understand they were given the responsibility to teach the nations about Hashem, being “a kingdom of ministers” (Exodus 19:6).

Q. Can you be a Christian and an observant Noahide?

A. No. All forms of Christianity are considered idolatrous by Torah (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy) definition. To learn more regarding the Noahide Law prohibiting Idolatry visit the following links:

 Q. Where can I learn more about the Seven Noahide Laws?

A. Apart from the previously stated websites, you may find the following books helpful:

“Torah Ethics for Non-Jews: The Seven Colors of the Rainbow” By: Rabbi Yirmeyahu Eindman

“Path of the Righteous Gentile”  By: Chaim Clorfene and Yacov Rogalsky is available to read in e-book format at: http://www.moshiach.com/action/morality/

Q. I would like to write an article for your site. I have a curriculum and/or lesson plan to recommend for your site. I would like to volunteer to help with material for your site.

A. You may send material to our administrator along with contact information and we will review it. If you would like to volunteer to help the organization, you may send an e-mail describing what sort of volunteer efforts you are interested in and your contact information.                 Send requests to: admin@noahidehomeschool.org

Q. As a Noahide, should I be homeschooling my children?

A. Not necessarily – parents should do what is best for their children and their family.  However, since there are little, if no, community resources for a Noahide child’s spiritual education within the school systems, homeschooling is really the only option for teaching the Seven Laws, Torah/TaNaCH, and various aspects of righteousness at this time. This does not mean a family must teach the academic fields at home; private and public schooling options may be what your family decides is best for your children for these subjects.

Q. Why can’t I just use Jewish curriculum or resources?

A. You can – and there are some great resources out there!  Be aware, however, that there are some critical differences between the Laws given to Jews and the Laws given to Noahides.  Jewish curriculum is designed to teach Jewish children about living Jewish lives and following Jewish Laws.  It can be difficult to pick your way through books and information as you are presenting it to children and giving them only the Noahide-relevant information.  The result is often confusion and frustration for both the teacher and the student.  Our goal is not to re-invent the wheel!  Rather, we hope to provide rabbinically approved material that is geared specifically towards a Noahide audience.

Q. Couldn’t I just use Christian material and remove the ‘New Testament’ teachings?

A. We do not advise you doing this for several reasons. Christian material is often filled with improper interpretations of TaNaCh (Old Testament) passages which will confuse children and can trip up the teacher.  Also, Christian resources are inundated with idolatrous beliefs that must be ignored by the teacher when reading aloud, but could be read by the student if they read the material alone. Exposing Noahide children to various aspects of religious differences will be a necessary part of their education once they are firmly grounded in Torah truth, but not until then. There are also world view differences from the Christian perspective that do not belong in the Noahide child’s educational repertoire.
